1. Accelerated Apprenticeships

       2. Graduate Internship Project
This project addresses the shortage of qualified artisans in metalworking and
engineering trades. The primary objective of the Accelerated Artisan
Training programme is to develop a model of fast-track apprenticeships
that can be implemented by small-to-medium sized enterprises and thereby
unlock their on-the-job training capacity, which in South Africa has hitherto
been largely untapped.
The primary objective of this project is to open up employment and on-the-job
training opportunities for graduates of the National Certificate (Vocational) in
public technical and vocational education and training (TVET) colleges by
developing their practical skills to the point where they meet the current needs of
employers.

4. Timbali Agribusiness

Since 2008, SSACI has implemented a programme of interventions

in public technical and vocational education and training (TVET) colleges

aimed at aligning college curricula and outputs more closely with the needs

of the economy. These interventions include:

learning for students within all college courses, training programmes and qualifications

o institutionalising industry exposure, exchange programmes and in-service

workplace-based training for college staff as a means of continuous

professional development

o fostering college-industry partnerships to promote more relevant,

efficient and effective training

This project addresses two priorities of South Africa's National Skills

Development Strategy 2011-2014, namely:

o    Rural development, especially by increasing agricultural production

o    Support for commercially viable business co-operatives

The primary objective of the project is to develop a replicable model for

the requisite knowledge component of trade apprenticeships

SSACI,with Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and

Swisscham, the representative body of Swiss businesses and their associates,
